Madrid, Spain
For work I was required to visit Madrid this past Tuesday. Besides work itself, which went fine, I was able to see a tiny bit of the city…and what a beautiful city it is! There is so much history to it that I don’t know about. I know more about English history since I’ve traveled and lived here for a few months, but it’s a shame I don’t know my Spanish history (since I’m sure I have ancestors from here). I wish I was able to take pictures, but I was working the whole time, and since it rained when I was out at night, I couldn’t even take pictures then! Very annoying. I’m sure I’ll be back on a proper holiday to get my sightseeing in
I know now why I love coffee. It runs in my blood. I have the very BEST coffee in Spain. It’s very strong, and very good. I was even ashamed to ask for a cafe con leche (coffee with milk) instead of a cafe solo (coffee alone… or black)!
Even the coffee from the machine at the TV studio was amazing!

Sad that I took only those pictures from my phone…but ah well, at least I can blog about this all. I think I would have more to blog if I had my eee pc with me instead of the work laptop.
The people of Spain are also very happy. I love that. They love to eat, drink and be merry. Dinner doesn’t begin before 9pm, and lunch is a full meal including starter, main, and dessert. Fabulous! My kind of country. All the women are thin and fit. The men aren’t too bad as well. I think it’s the way the food is prepared… non of this American junk fast food that is corrupting our bodies. Of course in America people have the choice to not eat that stuff, but granted, it’s convenient, and we overwork ourselves. Like my co-worker said, I think America is in the food industry to be a business, not culture. With European counties, the food is part of the culture…not about making money. This is something I think we need to change in the States. Also, we need to eliminate the cheap, quick high fat way all meals are cooked. But the world is not perfect. Sadly in the UK the younger generation are suffering the consequences of the fast food industry with all the KFC, McDonalds, and the like popping around the country more and more. It’s really unfortunate. I changed my mind now that I’m going to visit home for a week. I had said that I want to eat all the things I miss… (pizza, bagels, chinese food) but I won’t do that now. Or if I do, that will be the only meal I eat for the day. It’s all about portion control as well (which difficult when the value for the food is so good and cheap), but my stomach has shrunk now that I’ve been in Europe for a while. We’ll see what happens next week!
Wow that was an aside! Anyway, I guess I will post more this weekend. Flying to Boston tonight!
